1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how CaseForward collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website, mobile apps, and services (the "Service").
In plain language: We collect only what we need to help you create documents and provide the Service. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or third parties. We are transparent about how your data is used.

7. Data Retention
7.1 How Long We Keep Your Information
Account Information & Documents:
- We retain your account information and documents while your account is active. Your account is considered active each time you sign in — signing in resets the retention clock.
- If your account is inactive (no sign-in) for the period below, we will permanently delete it and all associated documents. We email a warning to your account address approximately 7 days before deletion so you can sign in to keep everything, and you can download a copy of your data from your account page at any time.
- Free accounts: deleted after 30 days of inactivity
- Single Document purchases: deleted after 6 months of inactivity
- DIY Divorce purchases: deleted after 12 months of inactivity
- Full-Service and Concierge purchases: deleted after 2 years of inactivity
- The window that applies to you is the longest one earned by any purchase on your account.
- You can also delete your account yourself at any time from your account page. This is immediate and permanent — once complete, your information is lost forever and cannot be recovered. We offer a data download before you confirm.
- After deletion, residual copies may persist in our automated backups for up to 90 days for disaster recovery, then are permanently purged.
Disclaimer Acknowledgement Records:
- We retain these permanently as immutable records, even if you delete your account
- These are kept to document that you received and acknowledged disclaimers and warnings
Payment Records:
- We retain payment records for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting requirements
Communications:
- If you contact us, we keep your messages for 2 years to provide customer support and respond to follow-up questions
- You may request deletion of your messages at any time
Usage/Cookies:
- Temporary cookies are deleted when you close your browser
- Persistent cookies expire after 2 years
- Analytics data is retained for 12 months
